Saroj Khan- November 22nd
Saroj Khan is one of Bollywood’s most reputed choreographers. She has choreographed more than 200 movies so far. Saroj Khan is born on November 22nd 1949 in Pakistan. She migrated to India after the partition, now settled in Mumbai. Saroj Khan started her career in Gulzar’s Mausam (1975) when she was working as an independent choreographer. He got her break through in the movie Hero. Later rose to fame in Sridevi’s snake dance in the movie “Nagina”, Madhuri Dixit’s Ek Do Teen dance number from movie Tezaab and Choli Ke Peeche dance from Khalnayak. She has won Filmfare Awards eight times and National Film Award thrice and American Choreography Award for the movie Lagaan. She is currently hosting and judging a talent show in NDTV Imagine titled “Nachle Ve with Saroj Khan”.
Helen- November 21st
Helen Richardson is one of the most famous names in Indian film industry. She is a Hindi actress and a dancer very popular during the 70’s and 80’s. Helen was born on 21st November 1939 in Burma. After her father’s death her family migrated to Mumbai with her mother, brother and sister during the Second World War. She got a break with the help of her family friend and actress “Cukoo”. She started her career as a chorus dancer in several movies like Awaara, Alif Laila, Hoor-e-Arab etc. The turning point in her career happened in her performance in the song “Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu” from the movie Hawrah Bridge. She got nominated four times for Best Supporting actress in the movie Gumnaam, Shikar, Elan and Khamoshi: The musical. She won Best Supporting Filmfare Award in Mahesh Bhatt’s Lahu ke Do Rang. She is now retired from acting though she has done some cameo in some movies likes Mohabbatein, Hum Dil DeChuke Sanam, Marigold and so on.
Helen is honored by several Awards throughout her career including Pdma Shri and Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award.
Shilpa Shirodkar- 20th November
Shilpa Shirodkar is a famous Indian actress who was popular during 1990’s. She is the sister of actress Namrata Shirodkar and the grand daughter of famous Marathi actress Meenakshi Shirodkar. She was born on November 20th 1974 in Mumbai. She has acted in several famous movies like, Kishen Kanhaiya, Khuda Gawah, Hum, Trinetra, Raghuvir, Aankhen, Mrityudand, Gaja Gamini, Gopi Kishan and many more. She was highly praised for her performance in Mrityudand. Today she is settled in UK, with her husband Apresh Ranjjith who is a merchant banker working with Barclays Bank and her six year old daughter.
Zeenat Aman- 19th November
Zeenat Aman is one of the most successful heroines in the history of Indian films. She was the trend setter of 1970’s and 80’s. She was the second runner up for Miss India contest and further went on for the Miss Asia Pacific contest and won the title in 1970 before taking the Bollywood queen title. Zeenat Aman was born on 19th November 1951 in Pune. Her father was one of the screenwriters of the all time hit movie Muhhal-e-Azam. Most of her roles where unconventional and critically acclaimed with a wide modulation of characters ranging from opportunist who leaves her jobless lover for a millionaire (Roti Kapda Aur Makaan), the happy prostitute in Prem Shastra, as a Hippie in Hare Rama Hare Krishna and so on. She has bagged several awards like Filmfare, BFJA, Bollywood Awards, Zee Cine Award are among the few. Today Zeenat Aman is staying with her two sons Azzan and Zahaan. Though she is seen in social functions and award ceremonies she is rarely seen onscreen.
Juhi Chawla- November 13th
Juhi Chawla is a celebrated actress in Indian film industry. For more than a decade she was one of the major actresses in the industry. Today she is also a film producer, television presenter and proud co-owner of IPL cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. Juhi is born on November 13th 1967 in Ludhiana, Punjab. She came to fame by winning Miss India contest in 1984. Her debut movie was Sultanat but she recognized in her second film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak in 1988 opposite Aamir Khan which is the Hindi adaptation of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Juhi is a versatile actress she has shown her talents in varieties of roles, serious roles to comedy. She has won several Filmfare Awards in her long acting career. Her famous movies are, Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke, Darr, Daraar, Bol Radha Bol, Yes Boss, Ishq, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, 3 Deewarein etc. Apart from more than 70 commercial films, she has also acted in several different language films, independent and critically acclaimed films like, Jhankaar Beats, 3 Deewarein, My Brother Nikhil, Bas Ek Pal etc.
Juhi is married and stays with her husband industrialist Jai Mehta, the couple has two children
