Helen Richardson is one of the most famous names in Indian film industry. She is a Hindi actress and a dancer very popular during the 70’s and 80’s. Helen was born on 21st November 1939 in Burma. After her father’s death her family migrated to Mumbai with her mother, brother and sister during the Second World War. She got a break with the help of her family friend and actress “Cukoo”. She started her career as a chorus dancer in several movies like Awaara, Alif Laila, Hoor-e-Arab etc. The turning point in her career happened in her performance in the song “Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu” from the movie Hawrah Bridge. She got nominated four times for Best Supporting actress in the movie Gumnaam, Shikar, Elan and Khamoshi: The musical. She won Best Supporting Filmfare Award in Mahesh Bhatt’s Lahu ke Do Rang. She is now retired from acting though she has done some cameo in some movies likes Mohabbatein, Hum Dil DeChuke Sanam, Marigold and so on.
Helen is honored by several Awards throughout her career including Pdma Shri and Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award.
