Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi- 2nd October

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi or popularly called Mahatma Gandhi is one of the greatest figures in world history. He is the father of the nation- India. He is the main face of Indian freedom fight against the British rule. He fought against the British rule using ahimsa and non violence. He was the pioneer in civil disobedient methods like Satyagraha. His birthday October 2nd is internationally celebrated as International Day of Non-Violence. He was born in a small village in Gujarat called Porbandar in 1869. By profession he was a lawyer and was working in South Africa where he came across the despotic and harsh rule of British. He left South Africa and Joined in the forefront of Indian Independence Movement. Using non violence and ahimsa he organized several marches and protests like, non-cooperation movement, Dandi salt march, Quit India etc. Mahatma Gandhi has also spent a number of years in jail. On January 30th 1948 Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated while having a public walk by an extremist Nathuram Godse. Mahatma Gandhi is one of the greatest personalities in the world history.

Narendra Damodardas Modi – 17th September

Narendra Damodardas Modi or popularly known as Narendra Modi is born on 17th September 1950 in Vadnagar, Mehsana district of Gujarat. Born in a middle class family but with strong will and determination he has climbed the stares of success. Today he is a well respected politician, former chief minister of Gujarat and second only to L.K. Advani the head of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

As a young man he was filled with unstoppable striving to serve the country and contribute to the development of the nation. He joined Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He became one of the active members, a full time party activist and organizer. He was later nominated to represent Bharathiya Janatha Party. He was the main party member who was there from the beginning of the growth of BJP, been there in all the ups and downs. Starting from the election organizer in Gujarat to the ultimate post of Chief Minister. With his hard work he reached the highest office in the state in 2001. he has faced several ups and down in his career yet stands strong as like a wall. Today he is second powerful man in his Bharathiya Janatha Party (BJP).
