Lata Mangeshkar – 28th September

Lata Mangeshkar is a lady with a golden voice; she is a famous singer in India. She is reputed to be among the best known playback singers of Bollywood. She was born on September 28, 1929 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. She has to her credit several awards including honors like Padma Bhushan, Dada Saheb Phalke Award, Padma Vibhushan, Bharat Ratna, and Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards. 1980s onwards she limited herself to playback singing only in big banner films. Her astounding musical career is not limited to playback singing only; over the years she has done few production of movies as well.

Kumar Sanu – 22nd September

Kedarnath Bhattacharya or Kumar Sanu is one of the nations celebrated playback singer. He has used his voice in several language movies. Kumar Sanu has awarded Padma Shri, he has won Filmfare award for Best Male Playback singer for 5 consecutive years in a row. Kumar Sanu was born on 22^nd September 1957 in Kolkata. His father was a famous classical singer and composer. From early age Kumar showed interest in singing and learned it from his father. He also learned the musical instrument Tabla. He started his singing career in restaurants and singing shows around Kolkata. In 1987 Jagjit Singh offered him his first singing chance in the movie Aandhiyan. It is the famous music director Kalyanji-Anandji who convinced him to change his name from Kedarnath Bhattacharya to Kumar Sanu.

He won Filmfare awards for his songs in Aashiqui (1990), Saajan (1991), Deewana (1992), Baazigar (1993), and 1942 A Love story (1994). He entered into Guinness World Record by singing and recording 28 songs in a single day. In 2009 h was awarded Padma Shri the forth highest civilian award offered by the Government of India for his contributions. He is currently in the judging panel of several singing contests held in different channels.

Asha Bhosle – 8th September

Asha Bhosle, the legendary Indian singer, was born on September 8, 1933. The whole of Bollywood salutes to the sister duo of Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle. Her career as a playback singer had a modest beginning in 1943, which was some 66 years back! Probably, a bit overshadowed by her more successful singer Lata Mangeshkar, she is believed to have sung over 12000 songs, which is a gigantic milestone in itself.

Asha Bhosle was born in a small town in Maharashtra named Sangli. Her father was Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar, who was known as a classical singer and theater actor. At the age of 9 she lost her father, and then her family was relocated to Pune, Kolhapur and finally to Mumbai (erstwhile Bombay).
